2009-2010 Parent Fundraising Committee:

Parent Committee News

Welcome to the Venta Parent Fundraising Committee's web page! Please visit often to see what events are being organized by the Committee. You can also keep track of what we have accomplished over the years, and what our goals and objectives are for this year.

This is our fifth year in operation and our main goal is to enhance the quality of life for the Venta students.

We raised just over $20,000 in the 2008-2009 school year, and as a result were able to purchase 20 state of the art computers and a firewall. The computers are used by almost all the students in the school, with the exception of our very youngest. The students were thrilled and we would like to thank the entire Venta community for their continued support!

Most of the items from the teachers' wish list were also purchased, including a laminating machine that is use primarily to preserve our youngest students work. We also purchased tumbling mats, broomball and hockey sticks , and many other items for individual classrooms.

In 2007-2008 some of the items purchased included official size soccer nets, baseball equipment, basketball nets for our junior students, a computer projector, wall mounted maps for each classroom, books and, a TV with DVD player for the art room.

2009-2010 Fundraising Objectives

Our primary fundraising objective for the 2009-2010 school year is to replace the hockey boards. We are pleased to report that the funds have been raised and the boards are currently being built.

Our secondary objective is to buy as many items as possible on the teachers' wish list. This includes re-doing our track , installing weeping tiles and purchasing software to enrich our French programme.

You can order your tickets by clicking here.

How does the Loonie Auction Work?

1. Browse the catalogue that you will receive at the door. Mark the items that interest you and cross your fingers!

2. Buy your tickets at the door. The tickets are double-tickets; each pair is worth $1. When you place a bid on an item, you keep one half and throw the other half into a "bucket" that will be drawn from.

3. Volunteer student runners will be dedicated to your table to collect your tickets.

4. When you want to place a bid on an item you put one-side of your ticket into the bucket. The Auctioneer will draw one winning ticket from the bucket.

5. In other words, you can win an item that is worth $50 for $1.

6. This is a fun and family oriented event, so please make sure to attend!
