Venta Students Shine at Regional Public Speaking Contest

On Sunday, February 12th, 2012 seven Venta Preparatory School (VPS) students participated in the regional public speaking competition at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 616 in Constance Bay. Each of the Venta delegates had previously earned the right to represent VPS by winning their division at the school wide public speaking competition in December.
In the end we are extremely proud to announce that all VPS delegates placed within the top 3 of their respective categories.
The results of our Venta students are as follows:
Junior Awards
Bronze Medal: Colin Lo (Grade 6)-Speech Topic: Quebec City
Silver Medal: Yeeva Ly (Grade 4)-Speech Topic: Joan of Arc
Gold Medal: Noah Bellehumeur (Grade 5)-Speech Topic: Billy Bishop
Senior Awards
Grades 7-9
Bronze Medal: Madison Richard 9 (Grade 9)-Speech Topic: Euthanasia
Silver Medal: Augustine Ferri (Grade 7)-Speech Topic: Why this photo influenced Canada
Gold Medal: Haripriya Pulyassary (Grade 8)-Speech Topic: Ghandi
Grades 10-12
Gold Medal: Justice Iris (Grade 10)-Speech Topic: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Both Justice and Haripriya will advance to the next level of competition in Arnprior on March 4th, 2012.
The Venta public speaking competition is an annual event, where all students from Senior Kindergarten to grade 10 are expected to prepare and delivery a speech to their class. This process is an effective way to assist our students in developing critical oral and written communication skills and build confidence when it comes to public speaking and oral presentations.
