Extra-Curricular Activities

We believe that education is not merely a question of classroom instruction.

For a child, it is important to learn how to listen to and interact with others.  This is a skill that must be acquired and practiced on a daily basis.  Social learning outside the classroom results in positive changes in classroom performance and all extra-curricular activities are planned with this goal in mind.

House System

Each Venta student  and staff member belongs to one of four houses.  The House system is designed to give your child and the staff the opportunity to interact outside the classroom while participating in various sports, spirited competitions and other activities. He or she will gain a sense of belonging developed from feeling part of their group.

 

Extra-Curricular Activities Include:
drama productions inter-school sports intramural sports concert band rock climbing white water rafting Science Fair Heritage Fair public speaking competitions art exhibitions community service Solar Car Competition Bike-a-Thon for CHEO fundraising for local charities.  For example, the United Way, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Red Cross and the West Carleton Christmas Basket Programme	Trips to: Europe (seniors) Mexico Cultural Exchange (juniors) Full School Ski Trip to Stoneham, Quebec Old Fort Henry Upper Canada Village Outdoor Leadership hiking/portage (seniors) Mill of Kintail Regular Field Trips to Local Museums, Galleries and Theatres.
