We are meeting before the game to have supper together at Frank Finnigan's restaurant.

Over the past week Venta students have volunteered to cut a 2km long trail around the perimeter of the property.
The trail was designed for several purposes. First it will be used as a practice trail for the Venta Running Club as well as for in-school races and hosting multi-school races.
In addition the trail will be used for snowshoeing as part of the Phys. Ed. programme with plans to install "workout stations" around the track to make it a fitness loop.
We have also installed "nature observation" stations for the younger students.
The students are currently raising funds, by selling Venta Casual Wear, to plant trees to replace the ones which were cut down. The Grade 8 class has done a survey of the indigenous tress and soil so they can choose appropriate trees to be planted.
A big thank you to Mr. Spratt for spear-heading this great addition to the Venta programme!
The goal of the club is to promote health and well-being, while accomplishing goals in terms of physical fitness. The club is open to all students in Junior 5 (Grade 7) and up.
Members of the club will be running in the NCSSAA (National Capital Secondary School Athletic Association) Cross Country meet on October 20th at Walter Baker Park in Kanata, with the possibility of advancing to the NCSSAA championships and OFSAA.
In the spring, training will resume and the members will participate in the Diefenbooker Classic and the ING Race Weekend.
Plans are well underway for the trip to Europe to commemorate the 65th anniversary of VE Day. The trip takes place between April 27th and May 8th, 2010 and will include several days in Paris, the Normandy beaches, visits to the memorial at Vimy Ridge and other WWI and WWII battlefields. The tour will culminate in Holland where Canadian troops are still revered for their brave fight to force German troops our of Holland and to save the Dutch people.

Venta students will now have the opportunity to take chess lessons with a professional chess instructor as an extra-curricular activity during lunch.
The next round of Chess lessons will begin on Monday, September 21 and will run for 8 weeks. All participants should have received the registration forms via e-mail. The lessons will run for one hour from 12:15 - 1:15 p.m. in the Grade 9 classroom.
