Boarding at Venta
Your child's home away from home. We are the only school in Canada to offer a boarding programme for students starting in Grade 1 up to and including Grade 10. We accommodate both 7 and 5 day-a-week boarders. Your child has the option of staying with us full time, or going home on Friday and returning to the school on Sunday.
As a boarder, your child needs a lot of one on one attention and he or she will get it. We spend quality time with our boarders so that we can address their individual needs. Your child's needs, as well as fears and hopes are expressed through our everyday routine from breakfast to lights-out. Much trust, communication and understanding is achieved in the mundane moments of each day. By living in our small boarding community, our boarders do not get overlooked and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.
We welcome students from all over the world. Even the youngest child will find a safe, caring and nurturing environment at Venta.
Day parents can take advantage of our flexible boarding programme; for those of you who are not at home on a regular basis. Your child can even spend the night if something unexpected arises.
Dormitory Life
Dormitory life emulates family life, with students and staff taking responsibility for maintaining a home-like atmosphere. The Venta campus is home for both students and some faculty. Your child will benefit both in class and out from the warm and family-like atmosphere that is prevalent throughout the school.
The residence provides an environment that allows students the freedom to be themselves while maintaining respect and empathy for others. Your child will benefit from extensive supervision and a structured social environment. We understand that if your child is getting his or her individual needs met, they will develop a greater sense of self-worth, confidence and personal accountability.
Students are very comfortable and secure in a two-story, self-contained, dormitory including full kitchen and dining facilities within the building.
The Weekend Programme
From Monday to Friday the academic programme predominates. The week-end program is more recreational in nature allowing students time to take advantage of our extensive outdoor facilities, and to relax and participate in group outings. Regular weekend outings are planned to places such as local ski hills, theatres, skating on the Rideau Canal, trips to Winterlude and other special events that take place in Ottawa - Canada's Capital. The students are kept busy and actively involved at all times.
