Anne Moore

Anne Moore has been teaching at Venta since 1991. She was born in Wiltshire, England and spent her childhood there. After grammar school she trained to be a state-registered nurse. She came to Canada with her husband and baby daughter, Naomi in the 1970's. Subsequently she had two more children, a girl Becky, who is now married to Aaron McDonald (J5 teacher at Venta), and a boy, Daniel. She now has four grandsons.

Rather than returning to nursing, once her children were in school, Anne took a degree in history at the University of Ottawa, and while living in Switzerland for a year, a Diploma in Refugee Studies at Webster University in Geneva.

Anne first learned about Venta when she was looking for a private school for her oldest daughter. Naomi attended for five years in the 1980's and when she graduated, Anne was offered a job as the History teacher for the senior students. This quickly expanded and Anne now teaches Grade 10 History, English and Visual Arts, Grade 9 English and Visual Arts and Grade 8 Visual Arts. She also produces the annual Shakespearian play with the grade 9's and 10's. This year it is Romeo and Juliet and the performances are on May 16, 17 and 18th. For many years she also ran the March Break trips to Europe. She has also spent two summers with the Grade 9's building the pond and patio area known as the Stone Garden. This is a special area for the seniors.

Anne likes to spend her free time painting and travelling. She lives in Carp with her husband David.
