Elysa was born in the Ottawa area and raised in the Cornwall area. She has attended francophone schools in her elementary and secondary years. She later attended Nipissing University in North Bay where she completed a major in Geography and a minor in French. Her Bachelor in Education was also completed at Nipissing where she had the opportunity to complete an in-service teacher placement in England. Elysa is currently studying part-time in order to complete her Master's in Education at the University of Ottawa.

Elysa went on to complete two successful first years of teaching in the Edmonton area in Alberta. There she taught junior high French Immersion and senior high English and French. Elysa has completed many national and international trips to French areas and is passionate about the French language.

Elysa is very active and enjoys the outdoors. She spends most of her free time playing soccer and hockey and she is training for her first marathon in October in Toronto. Elysa is a new resident in the Carp area this year and is looking forward to her first year at Venta.
